The Echuca-Moama Beacon Foundation is unique to every other Beacon arrangement in Australia; we have a Board of Management that facilitates the Beacon events into our local schools with the assistance of a project manager from CCLLEN. The Board of Management is made up of business professionals, school representatives and interested members of the community. They are:
Sue Turner (Chairperson) - Company Director, Wesue Group, Group Training Specialists, Echuca
Sue has been a member of the Board since 2011. She currently enjoys her role as a Nurse at Echuca Regional Health. Prior to nursing Sue delivered training in the local area through a number of providers including Kyabram Community Learning Centre (KCLC) and CVGT Australia. As well as her nursing Diploma, Sue has a Bachelor degree in Education (Food science and Technology & Mathematics) and Cert IV in Training and Assessment. Sue sees the importance and value in creating positive opportunities for local youth to successfully transition from their secondary education into a meaningful career pathway.
Mark Thomson (Treasurer) - Associate, Lockwood Partners, Echuca
Mark has been a Beacon board member since 2003, and offers excellent financial and tax expertise. Mark has been an employee, Director and Associate of Lockwood Partners Chartered Accountants for 25 years and is involved with other community-based organisations.
Adam Prime, Leadership Team, St. Joseph's College, Echuca
Adam has been teaching for 27 years and has moved from the Yarra Valley to Northern Victoria with his family 11 years ago. Now teaching at St Joseph’s and a member of the Leadership team, Adam’s focus is on Enrichment and Inclusion.
Greg Cadd - Moama Anglican Grammar School, Moama
Greg is the Head of Secondary at Moama Anglican Grammar. He is a Physical Education teacher and has been a staff member at the school for 15 years. Greg’s first encounter with the Beacon Foundation was in 2004 at Echuca High School and was impressed with how well the foundation engaged students. He is looking forward to his first year on the Beacon Foundation board of management.
Kevin Sourgen - Principal, River City Christian College, Echuca
Kevin is the new Principal of River City Christian College but has been involved in educational leadership both in Australia and South Africa for over 20 years.
Kevin is excited to be at the helm of River City as they seek to develop students who display wisdom, integrity and compassion. The Beacon Program is well established in the college and staff and students alike are pleased to continue their partnership.
Paul Marshall - Echuca Twin Rivers Specialist School
Paul is the Principal of Echuca Twin Rivers Specialist School. Paul has been Principal of the school for seven years; however, he has worked in the education and disability field for the past thirty years. The vision of the school is to provide inclusive and engaging learning that empowers all students for life. It is the fourth year the school has been included in the Beacon Program and the entire school community is excited to be involved.
Jessica Sargeant
Jessica is Principal of Echuca College and started in June 2021. Formally Jessica was Assistant Principal (teaching & learning) and Principal of Middle Years at Ballarat HS since 2007. Jessica has a Masters in School Leadership from Monash University was the lead member for the School Leadership Team of the Year - Victorian Government Excellence Awards. Jessica is passionate about learning and believes all students can learn given the opportunity.
Karen Hagan
I moved to Echuca in 1992, and have worked within the Community Services and adult / early school leaver education sphere for over 30 years in a variety of roles. Most recent as General Manager of Campaspe College of Adult Education (CCAE). I offer my expertise in post-school training opportunities for Beacon students and early school leavers. I am passionate that every student has the opportunity to build their confidence and skills, and to access relevant support services that will enhance their career and employment prospects.
