Interview Techniques Training & Mock Interviews
Arguably one of the most important programs that forms the Real Futures program is the Mock Interviews.
Students are given prepatory training over a double period session prior to their Mock Interview, covering writing applications and how to conduct yourself in an interview and present yourself to the world of work.
Practicing the question "Tell me a little about yourself."
The Mock Interviews are held at all schools throughout the year. Beacon Leaders are charged with the task of making sure that students arrive on time for their interviews, and that the guest interviewers have everything that they need.
Feedback from students is positive, particularly for those who have not yet had the opportunity to have a formal interview. Most are nervous when they arrive, but leave feeling confident and with some valuable advice and tips.
Students are provided with a feedback sheet from their interviewer, which rates their efforts on their resume and cover letters and their performance during the interview, and gives an indication as to whether the interviewer would offer that student a job.
We have a large team of volunteer interviewers who support our program, and we are extremely appreciative of their time and efforts.
